A gift for Dee ^_^

So, you know, my friend Dee who just graduated last year from RIT. So, she had a baby thats gonna be two months tomorrow!
Yup, she's a merdeka baby!

So anyway, I bought her a rocking chair bout a month back but never had a chance to give it to her. So she came here back to rochester today to visit her brother who is now a sophomore. Stop by for a couple minutes. She actually just left less than 10 minutes ago.

I never was a good friend to her. Frankly, I dont think I ever were a good friend to anyone. Im just socially challenge, i guess.

So anyway, gave her the gift. Hope she's happy. Umar (her husband) and Dee seemed quite pleased. :)

Didnt manage to take a picture of it. Wanted too but never had the time. That's ok though.

Here's the pic of it ripped from the world wide web.
Presenting, Lulu the Ladybug.

I want something like this for our children too! :)

Trick Or Treat!

We won 2nd place~!

Trick or treat challege by student goverment. The idea was to collect alist of household items that can be donated to the 663 homeless people in Monroe County.

So we raided 5 malaysian houses, and that all that we need! And we got tons of extra items too!

Turns out, who ever comes back first wins, and with everything on the list of course (the list consist of deodorants, shampoos, can goods and all that). We even got lots of items not needed in the list! Like, lots of shoes and clothes. Malaysians are so generous!

So anyway, we got free tickets to see the mens RIT hockey team. Since they are in the first division , that would be quite a treat.

I have a friend named Phil who NEVER misses a game. So, since I've been here for 2+ years, I guess it about time to go and see the game :)

And since I already have a car under my name... Yup, we will be going!

First Day of October

Its friday! Yeay! (minus the part I have to wake up early to go to lab because mylab partner can't come later because she has to go to Virginia to meet up with her son who is a marine and leaving for 3 years on monday!) Pheww! Try saying that in one breath!

I was really in a bad mood + headache that morning having to sleep late and waking up early when I could sleep in because my one and only class on Friday is at 10.

More Environmental Microb lab work pics. We're testing for E. coli which is the one in green.

We've been working everyday for the class and today was the second time I dreamt about doing lab work. A nightmare! I keep waking up thinking what was the dilution I was doing in the dream and feeling tired and tensed. Not good.

Then, I went to scan my notes from lab for my lab partner who was leaving and made it to my 10 am class and went and hunted down Insyirah at our research lab.

Our side of the lab under Dr. Lodge

The view outside of the lab. American skies are something aren't they? Their clouds are really
cool.

Then, saw this on the way home:

A view of the moon at 1.30pm

Then, went back home and fell asleep, woke up and left at 5 for MySA general meeting to get our new sports house t-shirt.

After that ate dinner (sushi! ^^) at the newly constructed global village that RIT spend too much money on.

This is Global Village.

Unnecessary fountain with (an electric?) fire place at the back.

Sushi makes me happy.

Insyirah. Its like we were in a restaurant. Not.

My First Autographed Book!

(excluding that Malaysian Astronaut that my mom got me)

I took Tissue Culture class during winter of my second year. There was a book that was just published that coincide to the cells that we were working on in class. So my professor suggested the class to buy the book and read it. So I did.

Its like the whole lecture was in the book and more! Its like a story, the background of the person of the cancer cells. A really nice light reading. Not like those biological textbook at all. So, I got hooked.

And the author came yesterday as a speaker and my biochemistry class made it an extra credit to write a summary of the event (though I was already going even it wasnt).

Turns out many who came didnt read the book since during the Q&A session every question is already answered in the book. Well except for one. And the author just simply read her book and talk a little bit. That was still good though because it was really nice to hear her voice reading it.

So, anyway, I brought my book and got her signature.

I'm all giddy because its actually a book that I had read and enjoyed.

Btw, the book is called The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
